You’ve probably seen these floating around – so flipping hilarious. Nothing like a good YouTube video to bring a smile to a rough couple of weeks.

Little corner of heaven

I love concerts (if you couldn’t tell already). I love sharing music with other people, friends, loved ones, people Ive never met…not to get super hippie-dippy but I love the communal feeling that a concert gives. Theres something about it that makes me happy, and last weekends Bridge School Benefit concert lived up to my hopes. The event is held every year at Shoreline Amphitheatre, and benefits a The Bridge School, an organization that educates children with severe disabilities. They’ve helped so many over the years, and several of their students have even graduated college! This year marked the 25th anniversary of this concert series.

The theatre was packed!! I have never seen Shoreline so full, and Ive been to a lot of concerts at that ole place.

The lineup for this year included:

Neil Young
Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds
Arcade Fire
Foo Fighters (Sunday only)
Eddie Vedder
Los Invisibles, featuring Carlos Santana, Cindy Blackman Santana Guests
Beck
Mumford & Sons
Tony Bennett (Sunday only)
Devendra Banhart
Norah Jones with The Little Willies
Jimmy Fallon (MC Saturday only)

Well, Jimmy Fallon did not show up (jerkface!) and because we went on Saturday we missed out on the Foo Fighters – but thats okay. It was such an exciting and amazing concert! Tim, Justin, and Adan were my concert buddies this round, and I couldn’t have asked for better companions. :-)

Really, how much better can it get: great friends, great music, and the stars above you? We’re already planning for next years concert. :-)
Mumford & Sons were my favorite performers; I felt happy chills while they were on stage. Marcus’ voice is powerful. I really enjoyed Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds acoustic set. Dave was a true performer, giving the audience the interaction we crave (and cracking us up!). Eddie Vedder was enjoyable too, and surprisingly so – I’m not a Pearl Jam fan.

I did manage a video from Mumford performing with Neil Young – Dance, Dance, Dance

Amazing sound, considering its my iPhone camera! :D

Stay tuned this week for a fantastic present to my readers… Can’t wait to share it with you!

We’re gonna slow it down now…

I was super excited to hear this song on the radio the other day, and I just had to share my love for R&B ‘slow dance’ songs:

Love it!!

Ohhhhhh Al Green. Yep.

Tim thinks my Boyz II Men obsession is a little weird, but that’s okay.

On sleepless roads / the sleepless go

Amazing concert on Monday night! It was probably one of my favorite Jimmy Eat World concerts. Last year was great (I’ve really never seen them perform a bad set), but for some reason, at this concert, I felt so happy, alive, energized, and super-excited for every song! they played ‘Bleed American’, and it was really exciting to hear a few songs that I’d NEVER heard live before (‘Cautioners’ and ‘If You Don’t, Don’t). After that, Jim joked “Now, we’re going to play ‘Clarity’ backwards!” and proceeded to play ‘Goodbye Sky Harbor’ – WHICH IS ONE OF MY FAVORITEST SONGS! It’s funny, when I first heard the song, I remember thinking that I’d never get to hear it live, because it was such a complicated (and long) tune. Now, I’ve heard it 3 times (Clarity x10 tour Feb 2009, Sept. 2010, and Sept 2011) and it’s so fantastic the way they worked it out! Jim uses this delay-type doo-hickey (yep) that records his live voice over itself, so they can do the neat harmonies and such. It’s hard to explain, but it’s SO COOL.

(performing ‘hear you me’)

Anyway, unfortunately, Tim had to leave for a business trip right after the concert, and he was gone all week. Marco and I were quite busy, and I’ve been exhausted trying to work, take care of Marco, cats, dog… I ended up eating late dinners and spending about 30 minutes sitting down. Ugh!

Why yes, I am RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED!! Zooey tweeted this last night (yep, I totally follow her @therealzoeeyd )!!!

I’m thrilled that her pilot was given the go-ahead!

I only watch a handful of tv shows, so there’s plenty of room to devote to the adorable Z.D.

(‘House’, ‘The Daily Show’, ‘The Colbert Report’,'Castle’, ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’, ‘Psych’, and ‘Burn Notice’ are the current lineup)

What shows are you looking forward to?

We had a crazy storm this afternoon, and I took a video of the hailing portion – it was insane!

It’s sunny and 65 degrees right now; o weather, how odd thou art.
