Today is Stabler’s 2nd birthday!! Happy birthday to my adorable, cuddly, sweet cat. I love you!!
Stabler’s birthday tuna and his present – catnip treats!
This morning, Stabler decided that I was done with my cereal and lapped up all my milk! Luckily, he’s just too cute to get mad at (most of the time).
On bed rest today at my OB’s request – some kind of sinus infection.
I’m on antibiotics for the next 5 days, and have to rest, stay warm, drink lots of fluids, etc. UGH. I’ve got a cough, sore throat (and a weird thing on my tonsil that the antibiotic is supposed to clear up – sorry, TMI!), stuffy nose and a sinus headache. One of the most annoying things is that my nose is stuffed, and I already have asthma. If I am drinking water, eating or enjoying a Luden’s throat drop (so tasty!) it is almost impossible for me to breathe! I can’t breathe through my mouth AND drink water at the same time. I can, however, pat my head and rub my tummy simultaneously.
So, bed rest. Not so exciting. Luckily, I have an adorable cat to cheer me up (pardon the quality, taken with my iPhone):
See?! He gives me those adorable kitty eyes and then hops onto the bed. If I leave to grab water or use the restroom, I come back to find him snuggling deep into the covers. Thief!!
One other thing that is making me feel much better: our tax refund & First Time Homebuyer’s credit came today from the IRS!!
I am so excited to pay off bills and put aside more money for Marco! Wheeee!
Finishing up In the Cage by Henry James. Not sure what I am starting next! I just ordered a few baby books from Amazon – The Nursing Mother’s Companion and On Becoming Baby Wise. The first was recommended by Dyan (the nurse who taught our birth class) and the second was recommended by Kacey (who was told it was essential by a friend). I’m not sure I’m actually in the mood to read these types of books right now, but I don’t have much time left before Marco arrives! Plus, I had A LOT of questions about breast feeding after the last birth class, and I’m hoping I can get some of them cleared up. I might re-read a Jane Austen novel to keep me amused.
How far along? 25 weeks, 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: +8 (I was right about that 1lb per week thing. darn. I was hoping it would be less!)
Maternity clothes? I can still wear 2 of my regular jeans without having to unbutton them, but most of my shirts are starting to look too short because of the tummy. Definitely going to sprinkle in more maternity clothing this week
Stretch marks? nope
Sleep: I usually fall asleep between 11:30 and midnight, and unless I work the next day, I get up around 9am. I wake up 3 or 4 times in the night, but am still managing to get between 7 and 8 hours of sleep. When I work the next day, I get about 6 hours.
Best moment this week: Yesterday I had my glucose test, and absolutely nothing happened. Tim and I sat there for the hour waiting for me to faint, puke, shake uncontrollably or all of the above; I felt fine. It was a good moment because I’d been dreading the darn test since I found out I was pregnant!
Movement: A few days ago I decided to test out a trick; I pushed on one side and he’d kick the other. We did this for about five minutes before he got annoyed.
Food cravings: cereal! Tim and I were at Safeway and I couldn’t pick just ONE cereal (though, neither could he!). I have Lucky Charms, Fruit Loops and Corn Pops. He’s got Ohs! and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Gender: boy
Labor Signs: n/a
Belly Button in or out? still in, but the end is definitely more visible
What I miss: I miss sleeping at night on my tummy, and whatever other side I felt like without worrying that I might be hurting the baby.
What I am looking forward to: a lazy afternoon today!
Weekly Wisdom: exercise is key! Take the dog for a walk, use the steps in your house to do some step aerobics, buy some 3lb weights to use while you watch tv! I try to do something every single day to keep fit. Will make it that much easier to lose the baby weight after.
Milestones: Stabler had a cold and it was very sad! It was the first time he’d ever been sick, so we were worried. I don’t know how he even caught it, he’s indoors all the time! In baby-world, Marco weighs 1 1/2 lbs and is about 13 1/2 inches long.
I forgot to mention that yesterday I reached 100 BLOG POSTS!!
Stabler wore a tie to make the occasion classy…
A year ago Stabler had his first bath….while he’s had several baths since then, none have come close to this experience:

is my 2nd favorite cereal. Also only 100 calories per serving and 0 grams of fat. I like that in a food item. Its a noble quality to have.
No work for the next few days. Really slow this week at the Inn, which is odd because last week we were booked every night, and next week looks to be the same.
The concert last week was awesome. The first band was terrible and the second had no stage presence. It was weird, the music was upbeat and fun-sounding, but the guys in the band didn’t look like they were having any fun. Even when they performed a few tricks (linking arms to play the other’s guitar while strumming their own) they were given as such…just a little trick, nothing exciting. BLAH to that. But JENNY LEWIS was fabulous! I love her even more after seeing her live. She started with a song I hate ‘See Fernando’ (ugh!) but she sang ‘Acid Tongue’, ‘Trying My Best to Love You’, ‘The Next Messiah’, ‘Happy’ and ‘Melt Your Heart’ and that made me very happy. Munching on apples and listening to good music with your best friend is a good night.

Stabler (my cat) has taken a dislike to my glasses. He looks at me suspiciously whenever I wear them, like “Who ARE you!?” Its a little frightening, especially because he comes right up to my face when he does it.
Here’s the LOL for the week:

Its a stinky week already, with only three days on the schedule for work. I’m trying to get back into the groove of having shifts instead of the Monday-Friday routine but it is difficult.
I’m really craving Napa Valley Veggie sandwich from Palisades Deli for dinner but already had my bread allotment for the day.
Boo to this diet.
Should probably give my cat, Stabler, a tummy rub because he’s giving me his evil look. He’s very jealous of the time I spend on this here laptop.
