Summer Wind

I’m so excited with the way my summer wardrobe is shaping up. With a few favorite pieces from years past, and some recent purchases, my wardrobe is rounding out nicely!

A few new pieces:

Vince Camuto ‘Miner’ sandal Mother’s Day gift from my mom! Woo hoo!

Soprano ‘Milla’ maxi – This dress is so silky soft, comfortable, yet elegant feeling. :D

Lush ‘Harper’ chiffon dress – I felt instantly lovely when I tried this on. Had to buy it.

Liz Lange for Target sunburst maxi – This is a maternity dress, but once I laid eyes on it I had to at least try it on. It doesn’t look like maternity – and the skirt is a swish-y material that makes me feel like a princess :-)

Mossimo ‘Perri’ – I think I need them in every color. Sexy AND comfortable

The Webster at Target ‘ Wallpaper Print’ dress - Timmy picked this out for me, and I love it! The blouson top and fun print are perfect for summer!

What are your summer staples?

I haven’t made a set on Polyvore in a while, but I’ve been thinking about lemon lime combinations and colors for a few days… and so here’s this:

Tiara

Quick recap of my birthday dinner! Holy mac, can’t believe I’m 27 already.

Heck yes, I wore a tiara.

Check out my shoes!!

Favors for the guests! :) Mason jars filled with gummy bears, Dutch caramel wafers, English toffee, and madeline cookies.  I decorated them with ribbon and mini-chalkboards (yes, I gave out chalk, too!)

My birthday dinner took place at the 1515 Restaurant & Lounge in Walnut Creek. Food was good, and the cocktails were excellent.

I told them to act natural. Good spies they’d make, eh?

Adrienne couldn’t make it this year, so Justin acted as a placeholder. Personally, I think he should’ve worn the heels. :P

Adan and Tim lookin’ fly in their new suits

I had a wonderful time!! The restaurant was very cool inside, and though the food wasn’t amazing, it was good and I really liked their house-made hummus. Ooh and their onion rings were delicious!

For dessert, I’d brought cupcakes from Sift; Stud Muffin (Lagunitas beer and brown sugar cake, caramel buttercream frosting topped with bacon and fleur de sel) and Pink Champagne (raspberry and champagne cake with buttercream frosting).

We didn’t end up getting home until almost 2 am, but I was happy tired. :)

I love birthdays.

Boyish

Two (2) new pairs of shoes.

I purchased this first pair because they reminded me of Hercule Poirot – especially as portrayed by David Suchet on BBC. :-) He’s always wearing awesome white, cream or grey suits, and leather shoes, which he keeps perfectly polished.

These are worn laceless, but the shoes did arrive with a pair of laces if you prefer. :) I like the boyish look and feel of a pair of oxfords with trousers.

We’d purchased Justin a gift certificate for Toms for his birthday, and I ended up ordering a pair of red canvas classics flats for myself. Oh my gosh they are so comfortable!

Looks good with most casual outfits, but I’ll likely wear them with shorts and tee shirts over the summer.

Shopping adventure

I went to Kohl’s last night to see about a pair of pants. I ended up leaving with 1 pair of navy cotton trousers, 1 navy and white striped top with ruffle detail, 1 army and pale pink top with lace detail, a DIVINE pair of blush-colored platform pumps, and a tube of mascara. I always find lots of clothes to like (even the LC by Lauren Conrad is built with a few great pieces), but finding my size is difficult. In the women’s department, the smallest size they make is a 2, but it’s sized more like a 4-6. Great for your vanity, not great for purchasing. :( Luckily, there are occasionally some basics in the junior department that I can work with (like the trousers!).

The mascara was part of the Flirt cosmetics line, the ‘All That Lash’ in black.

I didn’t wear makeup today, so as soon as I got home I grabbed my trusty eyelash curler and headed for the nearest mirror! I snapped some photos with my iPhone so you could see the difference (yes, those are bags/dark circles under my eyes):

BEFORE

AFTER

I really like this mascara! I normally use CoverGirl Waterproof Lash Blast, but this realllly makes my eyelashes pop!

You’re dying to see the shoes, aren’t you!?

SERIOUSLY these shoes are amazing (and really comfortable). They make me very tall. ’Hestia’ style in the Simply Vera by Vera Wang line. The pictures do not do this pair justice!

I can’t wait to wear them. :)

Gummy hearts

With the help of my handy iPhone pics, here is a recap of Valentine’s Day!

Our friends Jacqi and Donovan were kind enough to watch Marco while we had dinner and went to a concert. They have two little ones of their own – I don’t know how they handled 3 kids!! Marco had fun playing, and (luckily) he behaved like a gentleman. :)

After work, we picked Marco up from day care. While waiting for Jacqi,  Marco (RELAX, we were parked) became very curious about the manual shifter. :)

Tim and I drove home, changed into more festive outfits, and headed out.

Dinner at Gott’s Roadside in the Oxbow :D

Ahi burger, veggie burger, sweet potato fries

The Fox! Totally my favorite venue now. It was AMAZING inside.

The Decemberists were fantastic live. Not only was it awesome because I love the music, but Colin Meloy is a true performer (interesting, funny, and VERY nerdy).

It was fun to be included in the performance;  when they played ‘The Mariner’s Revenge’, they made sure the entire audience were yelling, moaning, and groaning as if we were being swallowed by a whale (trust me, look up the song).

Very blurry

Marco and I got tee-shirts! :-D Marco’s first concert tee – I was so excited that they had it in a toddler size – it’s too big now but he’ll be able to wear it soon enough. :)

How was your Valentine’s??

P.S. We were a featured pic on Busy Bee Lauren’s blog yesterday! Check it out HERE
