FILL IN THE BLANK FRIDAY! Thanks, Lauren! This week’s topic is that wonderful, yet elusive activity known as SLEEP.
1. The last thing I do before going to sleep is brush my teeth and take my Ambien.
2. When I can’t sleep I read, play games on my iPhone, or lie awake, tossing and turning in annoyance.
3. The first thing I do when I wake up is drink some water.
4. When I’m tired I this is hard to answer, because, quite frankly, I’m always tired.
5. My dream bedroom would be large and light-filled, with a wood-burning fireplace.
6. If I could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning it would be ITALY. I miss it there. Tim and I had such an amazing time.
7. The longest sleep I’ve ever had was 8 hours. SERIOUSLY. I never get much sleep, and even as a kid, I didn’t get more than 5 or 6 hours. Hence, the Ambien.
8. I sleep on my stomach, usually. It’s actually kind of weird: the most comfortable position for me is to be on my stomach, my head facing left, my right leg completely straight, and the left leg positioned at a 90 degree angle, like the yoga tree pose. Then, my left arm holds my left ankle, and my right arm is positioned under my belly. WHY IS THIS COMFORTABLE? I have no idea.

9. When I sleep, I like to wear nightgowns or a teeshirt and cotton pajama bottoms. In the winter, I prefer Tim’s pajamas because they are super-comfy.
10. My bedtime is usually 10:30

Time for Lauren’s weekly Fill in the Blank…
1. A very nostalgic place that reminds me of being a kid is definitely Disneyland! I love it there! It’s one of the few places that I feel free to skip, run, laugh and eat churros like they’re going out of style, without judgement.
Luckily, Tim loves it as much as I do; I can’t wait to take Marco.
2. If someone really wants to show me how much they love me they will build me a library…AHEM, TIMMY!! Ha ha. Otherwise, taking the time to listen when I need an ear, makes all the difference to me.
3. Lately I’ve been wondering a lot about Marco’s future. He’s only 7 weeks old, but here I am, planning his acceptance into Yale University.
4. When it comes to saving money, I am not very good! Once the bills are paid, our remaining money seems to get filtered down into books, clothes, delicious meals, vacations…now that we have Marco, we’ll have to work on that (especially if we’ve got Yale tuition to pay!).
5. I’d prefer a book over television any day! There’s a lot of crap on air these days, but the shows I do like are: House, Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Colbert Report, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Psych, Burn Notice, and Mad Men. I sometimes catch CNN (I <3 Anderson Cooper!), but usually I just read the articles online or on the CNN iPhone app.
6. I wish I knew how to make meringue. I’ve never actually attempted it, but I know that it is hard to make it perfectly. I love lemon meringue pie. Mmmm.
7. I’m just waiting for Marco to interact more with me!
I’m kind of bored and putting off writing ‘Thank You’ notes, so I wandered over to Lauren’s blog:
1. My absolute favorite movie(s) of all time is/are ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ’Finding Nemo’ and ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s', but I could REALLY go on with this list.
2. My favorite movie as a child was ‘The Princess Bride’, ‘Beauty & the Beast’, ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. My mom had to watch these OVER AND OVER.
3. The best movie quote ever is Jeez. It’s not the best, but it’s the first one that occurs to me: “It’s like, people only do things because they get paid; and that’s just really sad.” – Garth, ‘Wayne’s World’
4. My favorite actress(es) is/are Cate Blanchett, Audrey Hepburn, Emma Thompson My favorite actor(s) is/are Hugh Laurie, Ralph Fiennes, Morgan Freeman
5. The movie I could watch over and over is ’The Birdcage’, ‘The Breakfast Club’, ‘Wayne’s World’, ‘The Emperor’s New Groove’… Pretty much any of my favorite movies can be watched many, many times.
6. My favorite movie genre is I don’t know! Netflix recommends ‘Cerebral Dramas’, ‘Witty Comedies’ ‘Critically Acclaimed Feel-Good Animation’ and ‘Emotional Dramas with a Strong Female Lead’. I don’t like horror movies or dumb comedies, rarely like rom-coms. I’d say the list of movie genres I don’t like is bigger than that of what I do enjoy.
7. A movie I’d like to watch this weekend is Well, that’s a tough one. There’s nothing in theatres that I’d like to see, and the only movie I have from Netflix right now is ‘Cherie’, which is definitely not a Tim-friendly movie.
