The 83rd Annual Academy Awards
The fashion…
My favorite dresses of the evening:
Mandy Moore
I love her dress! She looks so lovely.
Anne Hathaway – these were her two best dresses of the evening. Tim was drooling over her in the red number.
Sandra Bullock – stunning!
I think purple was having a great night tonight….
Scarlett Johansson – though she probably should just walk around naked. I don’t like her acting, but her body is awesome.
The show…
Just some notes about the evening:
I didn’t see all of the Oscar movies this year, but there were a few that I was rooting for just on the merit of the actors from previous films.
Best Supporting Actor was one of them, and I was happy that Christian Bale won. I’ve heard that his performance is breathtaking in ‘The Fighter’, and I think his intensity is thrilling. Woo hoo!
I KNEW that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross would win for ‘The Social Network’ in the Best Original Score category. Tim was rooting for Hans Zimmer.
When Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi performed their nominated song from ‘Tangled’ , I couldn’t help but just think. “Lol, it’s Chuck”.
Why does James Franco look high ALL THE TIME!? Did he just bake in the greenroom of the Academy Awards?!
Not gonna lie, I kind of cried when Natalie Portman mentioned her love, and thanked him for giving her the ‘role’ of motherhood.
COLIN FIRTH COLIN FIRTH COLIN FIRTH COLIN FIRTH!!! I am so happy he won!! Wheeeeeeeeeeee!!
Tim and I agreed that the stage setup/backdrops/etc werre VERY well done; the show sparkled.
A good show, but I wouldn’t ask actors that aren’t natural comedians to do the hosting again. I loved Jon Stewart; bring him back!!
Some of the dresses I am in love with from ModCloth. I’d love to wear one of these lovely frocks for Valentine’s Day (though they wouldn’t exactly be appropriate for The Decemberists’ concert, LOL)!
Oh, and while we’re at it, can I have any of these beautiful shoes?
Oh, for millions of dollars, that I might purchase as many pretty things as I like!
Hee hee…
Happy Wednesday!
I don’t want to dwell on the negatives of the evening (Hugh Laurie lost! Inception lost! Robert DeNiro is awkward! Natalie Portman is REALLY awkward [but totes cute pregnant]), so instead I’ll post the best dresses of the evening (IMHO):
I’m not even going to lie; I had NO idea who this girl was! I had to google her because I loved her dress so much. I don’t watch ‘Glee’.
I am sorry for the lateness of this post! I meant to do a recap yesterday, but have been swamped with work and a sick baby (Marco has a cold). As it is, I am just doing a quick outfit post. Tomorrow I PROMISE I’ll post more about the holidays!
I quite often found in this color, so I know this will look a little familiar, heh heh…
Teal rosette detail top: Forever21
Teal Merona sweater: Target (also seen HERE)
Converse OneStar jeans: Target
Purple cutout booties: Nine West (also seen HERE)
Feather butterfly headband: Forever21

The details on the top are so lovely
…AND I LOVE THIS HEADBAND!! I had so much fun rockin’ it on Christmas.
How was your weekend? Holiday? I hope it was fabulous!
Sorry I’ve been a little skimpy on the posts! I’m trying to get my work and Marco routines down, and it’s taking a bit of time!
Luckily, Marco is enjoying his daycare experience! I peek in at him during my lunch break every day, and he’s either sleeping soundly or playing happily with one of his new friends.
Today I’ve got a picture of a cute outfit I wore to work on Monday. I’ve been having fun planning my work ensembles, and I’m trying to wear a different pair of shoes each day! I’m gaining a bit of a reputation in the office for fantastic footwear.
Pardon my fluffy hair, LOL

Cause, uhh… “This is how we do it… South Central does it like nobody does…” It’s friday night!! Brings back memories.
Good news: received my coupon code for the free Shutterfly holiday cards last week, I placed my order, and they arrived today! They look FANTASTIC! I can’t wait to mail them out!
And, speaking of holidays, that reminds me – I’m joining up with the Ornament Swap! It’s hosted by Laura of The Luckiest in Love. I love buying fun ornaments. One of my favorites is a taco ornament I won from a white elephant swap! Company holiday parties, LOL.

Last night the Gomers came up to Napa to visit. We had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Fume Bistro, to celebrate Justin passing his exam – with distinction! Woo hoo! He’s now free to start up his dissertation. He’s practically a doctor already!
I was bored on Polyvore again, so here’s some more loveliness:
I hope your weekend rocks!! XOXO
Some fall inspiration…
I am so glad we’ve finally got fall weather here in California. This past weekend the temperature was in the 80s! Finally, though, today we’ve cool breeze, orange leaves and a high of 70, with lows expected in the 40s.
A few random notes:
1. I have a major headache, and I don’t know what to do about it.
2. Marco is DEFINITELY the cutest boy in the world.
3. Today I am wearing my gorgeous brown Jeffrey Campbell boots. I love them.
4. Sometimes I wish I was Jewish, because I love matzoh ball soup, challah, and 8 days of family celebrations and love sounds FREAKING AWESOME.
5. I’m feeling a little unloved, because I haven’t heard anything about the job I interviewed for on Monday. I even sent the Thank You note! Damn. They said I’d hear back this week, so there’s a few days…but I’m losing confidence with every hour that passes.
6. I am super-duper excited about Thanksgiving! We’ll be spending another Thanksgiving with Micaela and her family – last year was amazing, and I can’t wait!
7. Dude! Marco is going to be 6 months old next week!!
Anywhooo… enjoy your Wednesday! I’m glad the week’s almost over.
I know I’m a little Las Vegas-obsessed lately – but now I have the song ‘Viva Las Vegas’ stuck in my head, by Elvis Presley (King of Rock N Roll and a Las Vegas legend).

Hawt.
I am not a huge Elvis fan, but there are some good songs in the catalog. ‘Suspicious Minds’ is probably one of my favorites; and of course, ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, ‘Blue Suede Shoes’…not exactly ready to hit Graceland, but I can do a hip swivel if necessary!

Shake it.
Anyway…speaking of suede shoes, look at all these pretties! I am drooling over here. Just think how cute they would look walking around the casinos, hitting up the slot machines, and enjoying Cirque du Soleil!!
The past few days I’ve had a hankering to go to Las Vegas, especially after reading about THIS and THIS. I’ve only ever been once, and I was 12 at the time – therefore, while neat, it didn’t hold NEARLY as much fun as it will if I go NOW…
Tim is less than interested, so I am working on rounding up my ladies to do a trip in January. I looked around on Priceline and found some amazing deals for the Venetian hotel!
We can see this:
Enjoy some of these:
And maybe see this:
I figure my wardrobe can look something like this (because sequins and feathers are practically mandatory):
Sooo…how ’bout it?
xoxo
…ME!!
I decided to break out the new boots! I wore them to work last night, and I love how they wear so far.
I can’t wait to wear them again. Might work them into an outfit tomorrow too.
Tim took pictures of my outfit before I headed to the Inn:
Tim likes to take pictures of me BEFORE I am ready…
