Yeah… it’s Friday.
Link up for Fill in the Blank Friday at Lauren’s blog, the little things we do.
1. This weekend I’m spending time with our friends, cleaning, gardening, and sleeping! My work week has been a bit…crummy.
2. My last vacation was to Las Vegas with my best friends (post HERE and HERE)! My last vacation with Timmy was in January 2010 for our babymoon (2nd post here) to Los Cabos!
3. My next vacation will be to DISNEYLAND. Yep. Thinking October, so we can see the Halloween decorations.
4. My favorite way to relax is with a good book and a glass of Shramsberg Blanc de Noir.
5. When vacationing one should always pack extra underwear and a toothbrush in your carry-on luggage (if your luggage is lost, at least you have good breath and clean underwear). Also, several books. I read 2 on my trip to Italy.
6. When vacationing one should never assume that toilet paper and hand soap are the norm.
7. The best part about a vacation is not having to wake up at 6:30 to get ready for work! Oh! And definitely the moment you lie down in your own bed upon returning. I love trips, but after flights, long car trips, etc… your own bed ROCKS.
Haven’t taken part in quite awhile!! Link up over at The Little Things We Do

1. People always tell me I look like Winona Ryder – been getting that pretty much since I was a wee little thing. It’s the pale skin and dark hair. In high school, I heard that I looked like the actress Shiri Appleby, when she was on ‘Roswell’
2. Friends don’t let friends drive drunk OR leave a party without their pants.
3. A sunny day is perfect for eating lunch outside, taking a walk with my beloved men (Tim and Marco), and wearing dresses, as I do pretty much every day during the summer months.
4. My favorite accessory is my engagement/wedding/anniversary rings, and great shoes.
5. If I could afford it I would have a housekeeper to clean my house for me! I work full-time, and hate that my weekends need to be devoted to cleaning, when all I want to do is cuddle Marco and smooch Tim.
6. The cure for boredom is a good book or a new recipe to try!
7. I am currently “in like” with Guigni’s sandwiches, my new maxi dress from Forever21 (can’t wait to wear it!), and am basically falling into serious love with Neal Gaiman (finishing up American Gods)
I’m guest-blogging over at Kami’s blog today!! She’s super-busy, just, ya know, HAVING A BABY!! OMG! So excited for her and her new baby girl!
Head over and check it out! I’ll be back here tomorrow.

As a nod to the passing of another year in the blogging world, I’ve decided to add the Google Friend Connect widget to my blog. When I used Blogger, this tool came built in for tracking followers; after Google dropped the FTP options, and we moved to WordPress, I didn’t see the point in it.
However, I think this is a good way of allowing my readers to receive updates to my blog more easily! Don’t worry, my RSS Feed is still active, and if you’re on my email list, I’ll still be updating there as well.
Just another way of keeping up with Books N Shoes!
Plus…I’m doing a great giveaway later this week, and if you join my Google Friend Connect, there may be an extra entry in it for you…
I’m having one of those weeks (and it’s only Tuesday)…

Yesterday, however, did bring a little ray of sunshine, from the sunniest, sweetest woman I know: Adrian of Happy Girls are the Prettiest Girls gave me the Stylish blogger award!

Acceptance of this award means that I agree to the following terms:
Have a lovely day, readers! Thanks for sticking with me.
I decided to make my own Sangria this weekend, instead of buying the Stirrings Red Sangria mix and adding wine.
It turned out beautifully!
Here’s what I put into it:
1 bottle of D’Aquino Chianti (purchased at Trader Joe’s)
1/2 carton of Trader Joe’s Strawberry Kiwi juice (100% pasteurized juice – apple, white grape, strawberry and kiwi)
3 jiggers of Charbay Blood Orange infused vodka
1 large navel orange, sliced
3 large strawberries, sliced
8 oz of sparkling water with lemon
Stir wine, juice, and vodka together in pitcher, and add the sliced fruit. Let chill in refrigerator for several hours. Just before serving, add the sparkling water for a bit of fizz.
This serves 7-8 people.

Super good!

Things have been rather crummy lately, if you must know. Okay, you didn’t ask, but I’m going to tell you anyway.
Things at my job suck. Everyone is so far behind that they think it’s okay to pile their work onto mine, not realizing that I am trying to catch up as well. I’ve felt so overwhelmed that I have to fight the urge to cry at my desk.
Tim is ridiculously busy at work too, so we’re both feeling the pressure. We are trying to keep from sniping at each other, but we’re so exhausted that we can’t always stop the sarcastic comments from popping out. I’ve been kind of a bitch, and I feel awful about it.
Marco is a beautiful, ENERGETIC boy. I love him so much, but his energy level is crazy. He wants to bounce, crawl, stand, yell (for fun) all the time! He never sits still. I have to force him to sit for two seconds just so I can wash his hair in the bath (he tries to stand in the tub).
Because of all this stress, my skin is breaking out; this makes me feel ugly, and then I get crankier. I am also in need of a color/cut (this will be corrected this weekend), and I want to lose 5lbs. SO….basically I feel ugly all the time.
And THEN, Tim didn’t record Monday’s episode of ‘House’. So fired. Hopefully it’s finally on Hulu tonight.
I’m tired. Glad this week is half over.
Bright spot: Maryam of Pamplemousse1983 has me featured today in a blog post, along with Heather of Just.Lovely.Things! Check them both out!
What are you up to this week, readers?
