Suggestions?
I finished The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver last week. I thought it was an exceptionally well-crafted story. Definitely a ‘political’ novel, with a clear voice and stance on patriotism; a bit cynical, but ultimately, on target.
Yesterday, I finished The Story Sisters by Alice Hoffman (a good read, but not as great as Here on Earth) and now have to find my next book! I was thinking of grabbing The Third Angel (another Hoffman novel), but would love a recommendation.
Also, any tips on getting my husband to finish my library?? My books are STILL in boxes, and, since I’m always buying books, the stacks just keep getting bigger! The only thing that’s been done in there is the primer. What should I resort to, bribery? Trickery? Torture?

Ha HA HA ha hA HA ha
LOVE YOU!
I NEEED to take you to Half Price Books in Berkeley! I never leave without at least half a dozen books and spend next to nothing. No recommendations. We have polar opposite taste in books I think.
I just finished “The Giant’s House” by Elizabeth McCracken, and I really enjoyed it. You’ll probably rip through it in a day. And I recommend the trembling lower lip. =)
I have been wild about Jonathan Tropper lately, ask Adrienne
Not sure if you are into the genres I am, which are preternatural or chick lit heavy. Tropper is outside both.
I would love to help you build your library! I can paint, put together Ikea bookcases, shelve books alphabetically, by author, or genre, and I’m available Friday. If you are still stuck on the hubby doing it, I suggest plying him with home baked treats and Mexican food, I heard he has a penchant for some south of the border fare
Adrian… you right on!
I live right by Ikea and know of two critically acclaimed Mexican food places within a mile of here. You can lure him down here with the food and then drive him to Ikea!
