Last week we finally put together the crib! We’re pretty pleased with the look and feel of it. I’m glad we didn’t have to spend an arm and a leg (though, $300 isn’t exactly pocket change!). Yesterday, while I was at work, Tim painted Marco’s room. Here’s what it looks like so far (no mattress yet, still deciding on a dresser and we haven’t even started decorating):
It’s starting to look really great in there, and I am looking forward to finishing.
One of the many bloggers I enjoy, Lacey in Love, has started up an interesting book club. There will be groups of 4 people, and each month you mail one book to one member of the club. At the end of the month, you pack up the book you received, and pass it on. I’m not a very big fan of lending books (I rarely get them back, so usually I am very careful about who can borrow from my library), but I’ve been looking for recommendations and this might be really fun.

If you’re interested in joining, there’s more information here.
Here’s a few of my newest beauty purchases:
Tigi Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo I love dry shampoo sprays – I am lazy about washing my hair everyday; OPI nail polish in Absolutely Alice I haven’t used it yet, but I can’t wait to try this color out on my fingernails!; CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Purple Plume and Tempest Blue I love the ease of use on these, and the color looks great. I’ve been having fun all week!; CoverGirl Eye Enhancers in Kaboom Kelly and Indigo Impact I haven’t used these colors yet, but I am excited to try them out!
Clearly, I am getting into color for Spring! It’s hard to have such a limited wardrobe for Spring, so I am expanding my color palette.
I normally use the BIG SEXY HAIR Volumizing Dry Shampoo, but I decided to try the Rockaholic because it was $5 cheaper. I think I like the texture of Big Sexy Hair better, but I like the scent of the Rockaholic.
How far along? 29 weeks, 3 days
Total weight gain/loss: +14 lbs
Maternity clothes? More than before, still not exclusively (thank goodness, I’m missing my clothes already!!)
Stretch marks? One on my boob (TMI? sorry!) but none anywhere else
Sleep: Terrible some days, not so bad others.
Best moment this week: Marco’s floor is finished and we’ve started on the landscaping in our backyard.
Movement: Marco kicks me about 10-15 minutes after I finish eating dinner (on average), and does a fair amount of kicking, poking and squirming throughout the day.
Food cravings: Strawberries, frozen yogurt (haven’t had any in several months, wahhhh!!) and cake (I haven’t had any cake this week but I REALLY want some!)
Gender: boy
Labor Signs: no, but I am having Braxton-Hicks contractions. Not so fun!
Belly Button in or out? in – BUT NOT FOR LONG!
What I miss: Wearing all my lovely spring dresses!
What I am looking forward to: Building the crib tonight and the fun weekend ahead! Massages (sigghhhh) and dinner at Bouchon on Saturday!
Weekly Wisdom: As long as you, your husband/partner/birth coach, and your doctor and/or midwife are ALL in agreement about your care, AND your baby is healthy, then you are in a good place and should not dwell on negative comments (though I know it is difficult!).
Milestones: Tim had to wear an Empathy Belly at birth class last night (it weighed in at 35lbs) and try to bend over to pick things up. I think it put things in perspective for the men in the class! Plus, it was REALLY funny. Dyan took pics; she’s bringing them to next week’s birth class.
Yesterday, Tim and I started setting up our garden. We have Gerbera daisies and ice plant in a wine barrel on our front porch. The magenta Camellia in front was here when we bought the house, but I wanted to show a picture of it.
In the backyard, there’s a small planter right outside of the slider. Tim added some more ice plant, and I planted a Potato Vine (it’s a white star-shaped blossom). Across the patio is a big planter with a fountain and now it has Bougainvillea (LOVE LOVE LOVE) and a few more Gerbera daisies. We’ll add some more greenery to it later.
Outside of that, next to the lawn, we’ve added my new favorite flowers, Ranunculus and Snapdragons. Directly opposite is a planter that runs the remaining length of the house. It already contained two rose bushes, daffodils and a spiny bush (thinking of tearing that out). Tim and I have always loved French Lavender, so we added three bushes in that planter, as well as in the front yard.
Needless to say, I was extremely tired and sore after all this bending, digging, scraping and such. But it was so worth it! I can’t wait to add more stuff.
to Kacey and Robert! They found out today they are having a boy!

It is Wishful Wednesday over at The Seattle Smith’s , and I’ve decided to participate today; but instead of talking about lottery winnings (because it’s not something that could feasibly happen, and everyone wishes for more money – boring), I’ve decided to just write about something I wish for.
I wish for a PUG!
I think pugs are just about the cutest little doggies in the world! Timmy actually started my slight obsession interest in the breed; he always thought they were cute and fun. I love when they run around and make their little happy snorts! I am hoping that next year we can add a little chubby baby pug to our family. I’d get one now if Tim would let me, but he thinks it would be too much at once (and he’s totally in the right…DARN IT!).
So adorable. SIGH.
I got this from another blogger, Ali from The Way I See It.

Feel free to peruse around and let her (me) know what you think! Enjoy!
-Webmaster (aka Hubby)
Things I am happy about:
- The cute pink enamel flower earrings from Target (only $8!)
- Hardwood floor in Marco’s room is finally finished!
- I think Tim and I are going to plant some flowers and vines this week in our backyard ![]()
- Massages at Spa Solage with Adrienne on Saturday!! I can’t wait!
- I’m 29 weeks pregnant today; just 11 weeks until my due date. WHOA.
- I’m very much enjoying A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood. Recommend.
Things I’m annoyed at:
- My belly button will be an outie in just a few weeks, I suspect. UGH.
- We still need to paint Marco’s room, and we won’t have time for several weeks. We bought the paint, but it’s sitting in the can waiting to be used.
- All the pretty clothes I bought last Spring won’t be making an appearance this year
Things I am considering:
- Skechers Shape-ups? I’ve talked to a few people that have them (including a stranger at Target today, I saw she was wearing them and I asked if they were comfortable) and read some reviews; might be a good idea to help keep me in shape during pregnancy. I could wear them when I take walks with Chloe and work out. Also, they are supposed to help ease back and leg pains. Anyone have thoughts?
- Cutting out chicken from my diet after I stop breast feeding (likely when Marco is 6 months old). I think I might go full-out vegetarian, instead of what Tim calls a “chick-a-tarian”. I’d have to be really dilligent about taking daily vitamins, BUT, it might not be a bad idea. Have to think more on this.
