Marco
is so mean.
I feel like he’s just shoving everything around so as to make me as uncomfortable as possible. IT HURTS. I know he needs more room. BUT I DON’T HAVE ANY.
Also, I’m having muscle spasms in my legs when I wake up in the mornings – this morning I woke up from a nightmare with both my legs cramped up! I had to yell for Tim to come help me get up and stretch.
Pregnancy is a crap deal.
Tim and I signed up for birthing classes. Unfortunately, St Helena Hospital isn’t doing a class in April and the nurse thought May would be too late, so we have to do the March session…as in NEXT WEEK. We’ll be going every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Every step we take now is adding stress and anxiety; as I said the other day, its making this parenthood thing TOO real. I’m so nervous and freaked out about giving birth!
Also, I am still very annoyed with maternity clothing companies. I want another pair of slacks for work, and I’ve been trying to find a cute pair of khakis. Unless I want to spend almost $100 on them, I’m screwed! All the inexpensive maternity lines start their sizing at a Pre-Pregnancy size 4, and I’m a size 2. I know, I know, how dare I complain, I’m skinny, blah blah blah. But where do they get the idea that just because I’m small I want to spend more money?!
It’s starting to become difficult to do basic chores around the house. It hurts to bend over to pick things up sometimes, vacuuming is really tiring, the hamper is sometimes too heavy to carry into the garage…the list of chores I can’t do is becoming longer than I’d like. I don’t like having to ask Tim to take on more responsibility, especially when he works so hard during the day already…but I don’t have much of a choice if I want a clean house. ARRRRGGGHHHHHH.
Thanks for letting me complain.
Today I had another appointment with the OB-GYN. Tim was in meetings all day, so he couldn’t get away to meet me, which kind of stressed me out. He’s been with me for all but one other appointment, and the last time I was anxious, too. I think I feel better having him there, even if nothing really important is going on. I saw Sue again, which was nice because I feel like I can actually talk to her. We discussed the Ambien, and luckily, she looked it up and told me that it should be fine for me and the baby. In fact, it was considered to be very safe for breast feeding as well (not that I’ll take it then; I won’t have 8 consecutive hours to devote to sleep!!). She weighed me, measured my tummy and checked Marco’s heartbeat. So far, so good!
After my appointment, I was driving down Main Street in St Helena and noticed that ‘A Single Man’ was playing at the Cameo in ten minutes. I’ve wanted to see it for awhile, so I decided to take in the matinee. The movie was VERY good. I really like Colin Firth, and have ever since I first saw him in the BBC version of ’Pride and Prejudice’ (the only version worth watching, IMHO), and even more so when I watched ‘The English Patient’. Colin was amazing in ‘A Single Man’; one of the few performances I’ve watched where I felt I truly understood the phrase ‘tour de force’. I do want to mention, however, that there was not enough Matthew Goode (he’s just so lovely to watch on screen, and I don’t mean physically – though he is that, too)! Tom Ford directed the film beautifully, and gave it the elegance, verve (yes, i said ‘verve’) and even the style that was needed to make the story work. Kudos to the design team for making everything look pitch perfect (I think its the same team that does ‘Mad Men’).
After the movie, I decided to stop at Copperfield’s to pick up a copy of the book by Christopher Isherwood. I’ll post my thoughts when I’ve finished it.
We ordered the crib today, and it is definitely making me feel weird. ‘Good’ weird or ‘bad’ weird? Don’t know.
Here’s a picture of the crib we chose, the DELTA Shelby Convertible Crib + Changer :
(title is from Shakespeare’s Sonnet 26)
How far along? 26 weeks, 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: +9.5 lbs It is so hard to watch the scale climb week after week, and not feel terrible!!
Maternity clothes? Most days I’m in regular clothes.
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: Pretty crummy the past three nights
Best moment this week: I haven’t had any great baby moments this week. I am, however, glad that I finished our tax returns and mailed them out!
Movement: no change; he’s an active kid
Food cravings: no
Gender: boy
Labor Signs: n/a
Belly Button in or out? in
What I miss: I miss not having a headache almost everyday
What I am looking forward to: Receiving our refund AND our First Time Homebuyer’s tax credit from the IRS.
I just hope it doesn’t take longer than the estimated 4 weeks.
Weekly Wisdom: Smooch your hubby after he does something nice, like cleaning the bathtub so you don’t have to.
Milestones: Doctor says my anemia is definitely a problem, so I have to take iron supplements in addition to my regular prenatal vitamins. Before it was just a slight anemia, and they thought it would be taken care of by the prenatals. Marco’s testicles are starting to descend, LOL! I don’t know why but it’s funny and I can’t help but chuckle.
An ellipsis ( … ) is not the only form of punctuating a sentence, in case you were wondering. There are several other delightful tools, including (but NOT limited to):

Cadbury Mini Eggs!! These are so addicting! Every year I tell myself I can resist…but I have yet to make it reality. Oh, well.
After hours and hours of writing codes, Tim and I still can’t get the Aperture page to look right in all web browsers (Firefox, IE, Safari, Chrome). The links are fine, but the spacing refuses to work properly.
GRR.
Think we have to scrap the portfolios and try something new there.
I finally got around to reading the February 2010 issue of ELLE Magazine, and to my surprise (and major excitement) the email I wrote to the editor regarding the December 2009 issue was published in the ELLE Letters section! I feel kind of famous!
Also, R.L. Stine tweeted me again today. I think I’ve got a new B.F.F.
How far along? 25 weeks, 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: +8 (I was right about that 1lb per week thing. darn. I was hoping it would be less!)
Maternity clothes? I can still wear 2 of my regular jeans without having to unbutton them, but most of my shirts are starting to look too short because of the tummy. Definitely going to sprinkle in more maternity clothing this week
Stretch marks? nope
Sleep: I usually fall asleep between 11:30 and midnight, and unless I work the next day, I get up around 9am. I wake up 3 or 4 times in the night, but am still managing to get between 7 and 8 hours of sleep. When I work the next day, I get about 6 hours.
Best moment this week: Yesterday I had my glucose test, and absolutely nothing happened. Tim and I sat there for the hour waiting for me to faint, puke, shake uncontrollably or all of the above; I felt fine. It was a good moment because I’d been dreading the darn test since I found out I was pregnant!
Movement: A few days ago I decided to test out a trick; I pushed on one side and he’d kick the other. We did this for about five minutes before he got annoyed.
Food cravings: cereal! Tim and I were at Safeway and I couldn’t pick just ONE cereal (though, neither could he!). I have Lucky Charms, Fruit Loops and Corn Pops. He’s got Ohs! and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Gender: boy
Labor Signs: n/a
Belly Button in or out? still in, but the end is definitely more visible
What I miss: I miss sleeping at night on my tummy, and whatever other side I felt like without worrying that I might be hurting the baby.
What I am looking forward to: a lazy afternoon today!
Weekly Wisdom: exercise is key! Take the dog for a walk, use the steps in your house to do some step aerobics, buy some 3lb weights to use while you watch tv! I try to do something every single day to keep fit. Will make it that much easier to lose the baby weight after.
Milestones: Stabler had a cold and it was very sad! It was the first time he’d ever been sick, so we were worried. I don’t know how he even caught it, he’s indoors all the time! In baby-world, Marco weighs 1 1/2 lbs and is about 13 1/2 inches long.
