Tile

This is the type of tile I want to use to replace the horrible wallpaper in the kitchen:

I <3 Pottery Barn

This is the Pottery Barn duvet cover I want for our new place. Our current duvet is chocolate brown, and we know three people who have the same one (Target!). I want something lighter for our new house. I found it brand-new on ebay for 50 dollars less than ordering directly from PB!

Its like magic…

So, I found this on Etsy yesterday…

But I really can’t afford it right now. Fortunately, I found this on Forever21:

$8.80!! I love a good bargain!!

OUR HOUSE!!

This is the freestanding stove in the front room. The windows face our front yard. On the opposite wall from the stove is the entrance into what will be my library!

Here’s the entrance to the library. The doors slide out of the wall, but I think that I want to replace it with french doors so that more light can come in.

Through this stained glass window you can see the porch in front of the house. This is to the right of the stove.
Obviously, this is the kitchen. We’re looking into a shimmery-white 1″ tile backsplash in place of that awful wallpaper. I found a great source for the tile and I can’t wait for that project.

I think that this whole ‘home-buying’ process has become almost a joke. We’re expecting to close escrow on September 7th (31 days from today), and we may not even be able to do so! Our lender tells us they still haven’t received the information from the appraisal. Without the results of this we don’t really know if this house is ours, so we’re sitting on pins and needles until then.

My back is still troubling me and kept me awake most of last night. It is, I think, stress-related. I’m hoping it feels better before the long day of work tomorrow. Today I am taking it easy, and watching ‘Funny Face’. :)

I finally gave into my cookie cravings yesterday and baked the White Chocolate-Macadamia Nut cookies. They are flippin’ awesome! It was a little difficult mixing in the chips and nuts with one shoulder, but I pulled through. This is the recipe I came up with:

1/2 C (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
1/2 C I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! (or you can use 2 sticks of unsalted, this was just a nod to my desire for less calories & fat in my cookies)
1 C granulated sugar
1/3 C light brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
2 1/2 C all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
10 oz white chocolate chips
1 C macadamia nuts, chopped into chunks

Preheat oven to 375. In large bowl, beat butter, sugars, vanilla and salt with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Add the eggs and mix well. In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking soda. Add slowly to the butter mixture, and beat well until blended. Hand stir chocolate chips and macadamia nuts into the dough. You can use a cookie scoop but I made them drop-style on ungreased baking pans. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until set. This recipe can make up to 3 dozen if you use the cookie scoop, but I ended up with 2 dozen.

The Waiting Game

It has been 3 days and we still don’t have the results of the appraisal. They did the damn thing on Sunday and they haven’t reported them back to our lender!! GRR!!

All I can think about is the appraisal, and white chocolate-macadamia nut cookies. Last night I bought the ingredients but my back was not in good shape for doing much. Today, its even worse! I want to make yummy cookies but I have been stuck in a horizontal position all day. I tried heating pads, Flexeril and a hot shower. I can now stand up without leaning to the right side.

Here’s a lol that makes me feel better (not really):

Chip-chop-chip

Yesterday Tim and I met up with Genny and Tyson at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco. I haven’t seen Genny in a couple of years! It was really fun to see the Richard Avedon exhibit, but the Georgia O’Keefe was pretty boring. I liked seeing the Ansel Adams prints but O’Keefe’s artwork was boring, and even a little childish. But, I love Avedon and there were some great examples of his photography. Afterwards we had lunch at 4th Street Bar and Deli, and I had a very yummy pear cider with my veggie burger.

Afterwards, we stopped by Adrienne and Justin’s place. We ended up having yummy pizza from Zachary’s and played a rousing game of Risk. Justin thought it would be fun and the rest of us had never played. It ended up being great! I was doing alright, then I got down to 5 territories and just one army on each; then I came back and took 20 more territories in the same turn!! Unfortunately, it was midnight by that time, and Adrienne and I were the only two left on the board (women taking over the world = awesome). I had to be at work at 7:30 this morning so we called it a draw.
Today is the appraisal of our house by the FHA. I am so nervous! I hope that they agree with our estimate. If everything goes well today, then we should have the keys by September 7th.
