On A Sunday…
Yesterday morning we received a call from our realtor, telling us that we got the house in south Napa. We’d put the offer in on Friday morning, and then we started hearing a few friends mention that the area might not be the safest. Possible drug activities a few blocks over. We mentioned our worries to her and that we wanted to do a few more days of research. She completely understood and asked that we let her know what we found out, so she could keep any future clients abreast of the situation. She said that if we need to back out its a legitimate reason, but we’ve only got five days before our earnest money is due, so we’ve got to make the decision soon.
We decided to drive by the house late at night to see if anything stood out. We were already going to Berkeley to visit our friends Adrienne, Justin and Belle for a BBQ celebrating Adrienne’s birthday. Justin made a fantastic grilled chicken and vegetables (i ate an entire onion to myself. MMM). On the way back, we’d just drive through and get a feel for the neighborhood. We stayed so late talking and hanging out with them that we didn’t get to Napa until 1:45am. Nothing stood out like a sore thumb, but there were a few weird guys hanging around in front of one of the houses. There was a LOT of cars, which most likely means there are more families living in one house than there should.
What if I give my opinion and its the wrong one?! What if I make the wrong decision and we end up living in a house that we’ll never be able to sell when we want to? What if we take on more of a project than we can handle? How am I supposed to know what the right thing to do is? Round ‘n round ‘n round I go….
Here’s a few pics from the BBQ:
